Educational Master Plan (EMP)

Published on 9/11/2015.

We are about to engage in a process to develop a revised Educational Master Plan (EMP) that is long-range, comprehensive and that will serve as the District’s blueprint for 2017-2022.  This Education Master Plan is intended to guide instructional and service program development, decisions about growth, resource allocation at both the District and campus/site levels, and continue to link budget to planning.

The Education Master Plan will incorporate existing work of the college by taking a fresh look at factors impacting our District and external environment, and offer a set of recommendations based on research. The recommendations from the Education Master Plan will require additional consideration given current and future planning.

Although the Education Master Plan will provide a framework focused on guiding the District in the future, it is not intended to replace other types of planning that must occur.

The process of revising the EMP will be led by a Steering Committee chaired by Angelina Hill, Mark Winter and Connie Wolfsen.  Goals and objectives to include in the revised EMP will be developed by four subcommittees:  Programs/Degrees and Outcomes; Faculty and Pedagogy; Infrastructure and Resources; and Students.  A website has been created that will keep all constituent groups apprised of the progress of the planning process.  I invite you to go to the EMP website that Angelina and her staff developed: http://internal.redwoods.edu/empc/Home.

The co-chairs of the EMP Steering Committee will keep the District fully informed about our progress on updating the Education Master Plan.
