A Statement of Support for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe from College of the Redwoods

Published on 9/16/2016.

If you've been paying attention to the news lately, you would have heard or read about the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe protest of the building of a oil pipeline in North Dakota. At issue is the Tribe's belief that construction of the nearly 1,200-mile-long pipeline between oil fields in North Dakota and Illinois will contaminate its only water source and cross indigenous burial grounds, desecrating sacred land.

I sent a letter to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe on behalf of College of the Redwoods supporting to the people of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in their current, peaceful efforts to stop the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.

I've attached a copy of the letter to this blog article in case you want to read it.

I want to thank Renee Saucedo and Katie Sharp for their words and leadership.
