The Board of Trustees held its May 2^nd board meeting on the Del Norte campus.  I want to thank all the Del Norte faculty and staff for hosting the Trustees and the Eureka based administrators.  I felt that the meeting was productive, engaging, and encouraging.  Here are a few highlights.

The administration has developed a “Budget Forum” designed to provide a resource for college-wide dialogue on budget and finance issues. 

I sent out an email to all faculty, staff, and managers last Friday about an employee’s right to place posters on campus advocating for a political candidate. 

The CR Construction Technology Residential Construction students completed work on the 2016 CR house #40 in Fortuna. 

CR student Erin Sandvold was awarded the Dickens Universe California Community College Scholarship for 2016 

Welcome back from the Memorial Day holiday.  Besides using the holiday to reconnect with my family, I spent time reflecting on some of the questions and comments raised by our colleagues during the May 24^th CSEA open forum relative to the budget and the lack of communication.

The Administration and CRFO have started to become active in advocating for CR with our legislators.  Lee Lindsey and I met with State Senator Mike McGuire recently and shared our views on SB 1460 Community Colleges Funding.

It’s cause for celebration when we get to see how successful our former students are after they leave CR.  Two former CR students were honored on April 14^th as Outstanding Students of the Year at Humboldt State University’s Honors program.
