Summary of the January 9, 2024 Board of Trustees Meeting

This was Trustee Dr. Robertson's first meeting as the Board's President. She did a great job!

Here are a few things you'll see in this blog summary:

  • One of the personnel-related items that the Board approved was the change of status for Amber Cavanaugh.  Amber will assume her duties as our Interim Director of Adult and Community Education on January 15, 2024. Amber’s move to the new position will leave a vacancy in the Office of Instruction. I am happy to say that Rachel Warze agreed to support Dr. Gaetje while we search for Amber’s replacement as Executive Assistant to the VPI.
  • Board President Dr. Robertson spoke about an article she read in the Inside Higher Education titled “Conflict Over Community College Baccalaureate Degrees Lands in Idaho” published on January 4, 2024. The article discussed the controversy over community colleges offering four-year degrees. The article is attached to the blog summary.
  • Dr. Crystal Morse was appointed as the District's chief negotiator with CSEA.

There were several personnel and operational related items you may want to know about so please look at this summary blog article for a recap of the meeting.
