TRiO Student Support Services


What is TRiO?

TRiO Student Support Services is a multi-faceted support program—offering assistance and encouragement to low-income, first-generation students, and/or students with disabilities. Our services include academic, personal, financial-aid, and career support, along with added advocacy and educational planning for completing a certificate or degree, or for transferring to a 4-year university. TSSS provides personalized counseling and advising, tutoring, workshops on various topics, help with choosing classes, assistance with financial aid forms and scholarships, and much more.

Participants in the TRiO Student Support Services must be:

  • A first-generation college student, or
  • A financially-limited college student, or
  • A student with a documented disability

In order to be eligible, students must also be a US citizen or a legal permanent resident, as well as have academic need. The TRiO Student Support Services located at College of the Redwoods, Eureka Campus is funded by a Student Support Services grant from the US Department of Education. The grant provides comprehensive and personalized services to help students achieve their educational goals and to improve academic performance, retention, and graduation rates.
