The 13th Annual College of the Redwoods Athletics Dinner and Sports Auction will be held on Thursday, August 11th at the CR Gymnasium. The Dinner and Sports Auction is a benefit for CR student athletes and their sports programs.
This year’s event will highlight David Wells as the honoree and featured speaker. The event kicks off at 5:30pm with a no-host Social and Silent Auction, Dinner and speakers at 6:30pm with the Live Auction to follow.
David Wells is a local product, having attended Lafayette Elementary, Zane Junior High and Eureka High School, before moving on to College of the Redwoods. While at CR, Wells lead the Corsairs to three Golden Valley Championships, two in track & field and one in cross country. His running success took him to Stanford University where he competed in the distance events on the Cardinal track team. He attained both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Stanford University.
Wells returned to Humboldt County a few years after completing his education to coach track and cross country at Humboldt State University. His Lumberjack teams and individuals enjoyed great success during his 24-year tenure. He followed his retirement from Humboldt by starting Wells Commercial Real Estate, of which he is now the Broker and President.
Tickets for the Dinner and Sports Auction are $60 for a single person or $600 for a table of 10. Tickets can be obtained by calling the CR Athletic Department at 476-4213.
