CR presents: 2023 Student Art Exhibition
On-campus gallery show, Tuesday, April 4 through Thursday, May 4

College of the Redwoods is thrilled to present the 2023 juried exhibition of student artwork in the CR Art Gallery from Tuesday, April 4 through Thursday, May 4. The work included in the show spans a range of media and styles, including realistic and abstract painting, life drawing, functional ceramics, landscape and conceptual photography, sculpture, and collage. It represents the breadth of CR Art Department offerings and the accomplishments of 2022-2023 CR students. A public reception, including the presentation of awards, with take place in the gallery on Wednesday, April 19 from 2pm to 5pm.

This year’s Student Art Exhibition judge is Carly Slade, a Canadian artist who works primarily in ceramics, mixed media, embroidery, and sculpture. Her work touches on “impermanence to our lives spent in the buildings we inhabit and work in.” She writes, “I think a lot about people, and a lot about the spaces they inhabit.” Slade joined the Art + Film Department at Cal Poly Humboldt as Assistant Professor in ceramics in 2022.

The 2023 Student Art Exhibition is made possible through the generous support of A to Z Eye Care, Advanced Security Systems, Ellis Art and Engineering, Fire Arts Center, Holly Yashi, Cindy Hooper, The Ingrid Nickelsen Trust, Jitter Bean Coffee Co., Mary Mallahan and Dave Bazard, Modern Stitch Society of Humboldt, Pierson Building Center, Phoenix Ceramic & Fire Supply, The Redwood Art Association, Emily Silver, Jesse Wiedel, Robert and Desirée Yarber, and more.

Admission to the College of the Redwoods Art Gallery is free and open to the public Monday through Thursday 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and by appointment. Hours are subject to change.
