This course is designed to prepare students to communicate with Spanish speakers during an emergency. Students will learn basic phrases that are commonly needed as an EMT or Paramedic when responding to a 911 call involving a Spanish speaking patient.

Initial Care and Stabilization includes the following:

  • Initial Arrival on the Scene
  • Assessment and History
  • Initial Treatment
  • Other

Expanded Care Components include the following:

  • Accident Scene
  • Chest Pain
  • Respiratory Problems
  • Diabetic
  • Seizures
  • Poisons
  • Etc.

Content of the course will be the same on both Mondays and Wednesdays of each week so that students can choose which day and time works best for their schedule. The instructor is very knowledgeable in the area of teaching foreign languages, and speaks Spanish well, but does not have a background in healthcare or emergency services.
