Instructor: Colleen Clifford

This 6-week course taught by experienced glass artist, Collen Clifford, will develop the techniques of cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering and framing your own stained glass art piece. Students will complete a 12" x 12" (or similiar size) window hanging while learning the basic skills of the copper foil techniques for creating stained glass.

Instructor: Susie Kidd - Owner Sacred Bodies Pilates

In this 6-week session, you will learn the foundation of the practice of Pilates and discover how your own body moves and why. This will not only give you the foundation to the Pilates method, but also awareness of self and how to apply the concepts and exercises to your daily activities. This class will enhance both your body and mind.

Note: A yoga mat is recommended


Torch Fired Enameling

Instructor: Tova Lund

Enameling is the process of fusing particles of colored glass onto metal. In this introductory course we will enamel on copper to make samples and final products that can be used to create jewelry. You will make dynamic patterns and designs with the enamel using a variety of simple techniques including basic sifting, sgraffito, stencils and stamping.

Film Analysis - What Makes Great Films Great

In this series, we'll dig deep into some of Hollywood's best films to discover the craft behind the writing, directing, designing, editing, and performing what makes them so great. Both classes are taught by Hollywood agent Rima Greer so you will get the skinny on how Hollywood makes the impossible look effortless, while creating some of the most impactful "literature" of our time. Film and discussion sessions occur during class time.

In this first series, we'll explore LOVE stories that intertwine, lift us up, and amaze us, with Love Actually, The Apartment, and The Illusionist. For our fourth film, the class will choose from The Shape of Water, While You Were Sleeping, and The Fifth Element.

Learn essential Spanish for everyday conversation! Conversational Spanish is geared for people looking to develop some Spanish conversational skills in a quick and fun setting. This is a beginning level course where participants need little or no prior experience with Spanish.

Beginning workshops will cover the basics of mushroom identification, ecoloy of fungi, mushroom hunting, toxic mushrooms, and more. Field trips are an optional activity with either class. Humboldt Bay Mycological Society Mushroom Fair has been held annually since 1978. This year it will be held on Sunday, Nov 18 from 11am - 4pm at the Arcata Community Center, 321 Martin Luther King Parkway in Arcata. For more info: www.hhmycologicalsociety.org
