I was always told I was a good teacher, and enjoyed helping people understand carpentry concepts. The opportunity to train people and provide them with a livelihood was very appealing.
I have a patient and welcoming atmosphere in my classroom, but still maintain industry-level expectations for quality and performance. Students will be exposed to all aspects of residential construction and will gain marketable skills in a field that is desperately in need of skilled labor.
This is one of a handful of programs in the nation where students build a house. On the jobsite, which is their lab, I enjoy bringing people of diverse skillsets and backgrounds together and accomplishing common goals.
When I’m not working, I’m remodeling my house.
