College of the Redwoods has hired Taylor McMillin as the new Head Women’s Soccer Coach. She has been the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Cal Poly Humboldt since 2018 and is currently the Director of Coaching for the Sequoia FC Soccer Club in Arcata. She also previously served as an assistant coach at CR for the Women’s Soccer program in 2016 and was the Interim Head Coach in 2017.
"I am extremely excited for this opportunity,” said McMillin. “My goal as head coach is to provide an opportunity for student-athletes to earn an education, develop on and off the field and help them achieve their goals. I want to thank Athletic Director Bob Brown for his confidence in me, and his excitement when he talks about the vision for CR’s women’s soccer program and the rest of Corsair athletics. I also want to thank the Cal Poly Humboldt coaching staff, administration and athletes. I will always cherish my time as a Lumberjack. I am very excited for this season to begin. Go Corsairs!"
Taylor replaces Julio Ayala as the CR Head Women’s coach. Julio has recently accepted the Head Men’s Soccer Coaching job at Contra Costa College.
“I want to sincerely thank Julio Ayala for his service and commitment to our Women’s Soccer program over the past 5 years and wish him outstanding success with his new position at Contra Costa,” said CR Athletics Director Bob Brown. “It is well deserved. I am also extremely pleased to welcome back Taylor McMillin as our new head coach of the Women’s Soccer program here at CR. She clearly has the experience, knowledge and all the top qualities you look for in a head coach. With her recent experience at Humboldt along with her familiarity with the California Community College system, it made her the perfect candidate for our position opening. I anticipate a smooth transition into our upcoming season and look forward to our Women’s Soccer program to continue to thrive under Taylor’s leadership.”
