College of the Redwoods and Arcata High School will co-sponsor the Old Town Turkey Trot, a beloved community running event on Thursday, November 24th at 9:00 am. A local Thanksgiving Day tradition for over twenty years, CR invites the community to come join the  fun family atmosphere and make room for that turkey dinner.

“This run has a great tradition in our community and is a fun event for families and people of all ages,” said CR Athletics Director Bob Brown. “CR athletics and specifically our Cross Country team are proud to be co-hosting with the Arcata High program and coach James Washington.”

Registration is required before the race and starts at 7:00 am at the Old Town Gazebo in Eureka. Participants can also register early at the Jogg’n Shoppe in Arcata at 1090 G Street on Tuesday (11/22) and Wednesday (11/23) between 3:00 to 7:00 pm or go online at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/445514565057. Registration on race day is $15, and early registration is $12.

The 5K race route starts at the Old Town Gazebo and heads up Second Street to the Carson Mansion then loops over to Waterfront Drive towards the Samoa Bridge turn-around and back down the waterfront to Commercial Street before winding over to Second Street and back to the finish line at F Street. Runners do two loops. Costumes are encouraged and some lucky participants may win a pie. All proceeds help support both the Arcata High and College of the Redwoods Cross Country Programs.
