Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)


Eureka Candidates:
For degrees, complete the Graduation Petition and meet with an advisor or counselor to confirm all program requirements have been met. Submit the forms to the Admissions and Records Office by the appropriate deadline.
For Certificates of Achievement, complete the Application for Certificate. It is strongly suggested that you meet with an advisor or counselor prior to submitting the completed application to the Admissions and Records Office. Submit the forms to the Admissions and Records Office by the appropriate deadline. (Students seeking certificates of recognition do not apply for graduation.)

Klamath-Trinity Candidates:
Graduation Petition, Graduate Survey or Application for Certificate of Achievement should be submitted to the Klamath-Trinity Instructional Site Administration Office.

Del Norte Candidates:
For degrees, complete the Graduation Petition and meet with an advisor or counselor to confirm all program requirements have been met. Also complete the Graduate Survey and attach to the Graduation Petition before submitting both forms to an advisor or counselor by the appropriate deadline.

For certificates, complete the Application for Certificate. It is strongly suggested that you meet with an advisor or counselor prior to submitting the completed application to the Admissions and Records Office. Additionally complete the Graduate Survey and attach to your application for certificate

If you are completing more than one degree or certificate, a separate petition/application is required for each award.

In order to obtain a degree or certificate, students must submit their petition/application during their last term at the College before the published deadlines.

Deadlines to petition to graduate or to apply for certificates are:
Spring Semester – first Thursday in March
Fall Semester – last Thursday in October
Summer Session – last Thursday in June

If you miss the deadline for petitioning to graduate or applying for a certificate you may apply in the next term by the appropriate deadline.

You will receive an official notification letter via U.S. mail confirming your graduation status by the end of April. We will also be notifying you by email at your mycr.redwoods.edu account.

If you do not receive an official confirmation letter and have questions, start by contacting the advisor/counselor whom you met with prior to submitting your graduation petition

You will receive a letter in the mail (late April/early May) inviting you to purchase an honors cord to wear at commencement.

Klamath-Trinity Candidates:
An informal evaluation of the student's transcript to help determine the KTIS Outstanding Student Scholar and assist the students in purchasing their honor cord if applicable.

Del Norte Candidates:
You will receive a letter in the mail (late April/early May) inviting you to purchase an honors cord to wear at commencement.

Eureka Candidates:
Honor cords can be purchased from the bookstore. Honor cords will be sold only to student on a designated honors list. You will need to present a photo ID and are allowed to purchase one cord only.

If you are unable to get to campus, you can email bookstore@redwoods.edu from your mycr.redwoods.edu email account and specify the person who will be purchasing and picking up your honor cord.

Klamath-Trinity Candidates:
Honor cords can be purchased from the Eureka bookstore unless the student is sponsored by the Hoopa Career and Technical Education Program or the Hoopa Career Fast-Track Project. Honor cords and regalia are purchased in coordination with the graduate.

Del Norte Candidates:
Honor cords can be purchased from the Del Norte bookstore. Honor cords will be sold only to students on a designated honors list. Please contact Michelle Bradley at (707) 465-2303

Eureka Candidates:
Yes, the Fire Marshall limits the number of people allowed in the gymnasium at one time. Each attendee (this includes babies in carriers and small children) is required to have a ticket to be admitted into the gymnasium.

All seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tickets are not required for the overflow seating, available in the Performing Arts Theater, where the ceremony will be live streamed.

No. Tickets are not required for family and friends to attend the commencement ceremony. However, all seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

No, all seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of accessible seating/wheelchair spaces will be available on the gymnasium floor.

Eureka Candidates:
Each graduate who RSVPs online or in person by the deadline is guaranteed 6 guest tickets. All tickets will be available to pick up at rehearsal.

If you cannot attend rehearsal, your tickets will be left at will-call under your name on Saturday morning.

Klamath-Trinity Candidates:
Tickets are not required.

Del Norte Candidates:
Tickets are not required.

Eureka Candidates:
CR will not hand out extra tickets, please talk with your friends for extra tickets.

Special accommodations should be noted on the blue card. This includes accessible seating/wheelchair spaces, disabled parking, Braille/large print text, etc.

Klamath-Trinity Candidates:
Special accommodations should be forwarded to the College of the Redwoods Klamath-Trinity Instructional Site Administration Office. This includes requests for accessible seating/wheelchair spaces, disabled parking, Braille/large print text, etc.

Del Norte Candidates:
Special accommodations should be forwarded to the College of the Redwoods, Del Norte Center Administration Office.

Eureka Candidates:

  • There will be a limited number of accessible seating/wheelchair spaces on the gymnasium floor.
  • There will be disabled parking.
  • The CR car will circle the parking lot to provide transportation up to the gym.
  • Sign language translators will be interpreting the ceremony.

Klamath-Trinity Candidates:
There will be a limited number of accessible seating/wheelchair spaces on the gymnasium floor along with disabled parking.

Del Norte Candidates:

  • There will be a limited number of accessible seating/wheelchair space on the gym floor.
  • There will be disabled parking.

Rehearsal is in the gymnasium at 10 a.m. on the Friday before Commencement. You will not need your regalia for rehearsal.

Klamath-Trinity Candidates:
Rehearsal will be held the Friday before commencement. You will not need your regalia for rehearsal.

Del Norte Candidates:
There will be no rehearsal.

Graduates should meet in the Womens' Locker Room in the Gymnasium at 10 a.m. Please be dressed in your cap and gown when you arrive.

Klamath-Trinity:
Graduates should meet at the designated location for the ceremony at 5:15 pm. Please be dressed in your cap and gown when you arrive.

Del Norte Candidates:
Commencement Day details will be provided when submitting your petition to graduate

Eureka Candidates:
Doors open at 10 a.m.

Klamath-Trinity Candidates:
Doors open at 5 p.m.

Del Norte Candidates:
Doors open at 5pm.

Eureka Candidates:
Yes. GradImages is our official graduation photographer. They will contact you with information on purchasing photos.

Klamath-Trinity Candidates:
A professional photographer will not be available at the commencement ceremony.

Del Norte Candidates:

Your diploma will be mailed to the address you write on your Graduation Petition or Application for Certificate.

  • Spring degrees & certificates will be sent out by September 30
  • Fall degrees & certificates will be sent out by March 30
  • Summer degrees & certificates will be sent out by October 30

Yes, complete the Diploma Reprint Request. Diploma reprints are $20 each.

Please note Certificates of Recognition are not posted to transcripts.

The first two official transcript requests are free. Each additional transcript is $8.

"Rush" transcripts are $15 and are processed and mailed within 48 hours of receipt of payment. Unofficial transcripts are free and can be obtained by logging into WebAdvisor and clicking on "view unofficial transcript".

Grades are due one week after the term ends. There are two options when you order your transcript: hold order until grades are posted for the current term or hold order until after the degree/certificate is posted.
