Eric Wright

Eric Wright

Eric Wright is the throws and strength coach for the College of the Redwoods track and cross country programs. He joined the staff for the 2016 track season.

Wright graduated from Eureka High School in 2007 where he was a 3-time league champion in the shot put and 1-time in the discus. He then went to Shasta College for the 2008-09 seasons as a thrower. Eric was the 2009 NorCal hammer champion. He then completed his college career at Chico State where he was the CCAA hammer champion and a 4-time All CCAA and 4-time NCAA All West Region thrower while at Chico. At Chico State, Eric earned a Master's degree in Kinesiology in 2013 with focuses in Coaching, Strength and Conditioning, and Biomechanics.

Prior to Redwoods, Wright coached two seasons at Shasta College where he had a state champion in the discus. In Wright's time here at Redwoods, 3 of the 4 women's school records have fallen with two different women out throwing the previous hammer record in 2017 and the javelin and discus records as well. In Wright's coaching career, he has had 4 school records broken, 3 All-Americans, 1 state champion, and 8 state qualifiers in the throwing events.
