College of the Redwoods offers High School Equivalency/GED Preparation Class
College of the Redwoods Adult Education is pleased to announce that new High School Equivalency/GED Preparation classes are being offered at CR’s Eureka Downtown Site on 333 6th Street, suite B. The classes are being taught by Elizabeth Niemeyer and Jason Wheeler. Wheeler’s classes meet on Monday and Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. or Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Niemeyer’s class (with Spanish support) meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. These classes are free, and students can start at any time.
Students in these classes will prepare with the instructor to pass either the HiSET or GED exam. The exams can be taken at the downtown Eureka office. The GED test is given in either English or Spanish.
Students who take either the GED or HiSET do have to pay for the exams. In general the costs of the exams are $140.00. Retakes may cost additional amounts.
CR Adult Education Navigators will be at the CR Downtown Site on November 7, Nov. 17, Dec. 5 and Dec. 15, 2016. CR Navigators will meet with students and explain not only the High School Equivalency class, but all the Adult Education classes CR offers. Navigators can even enroll students and help them sign-up for Adult Education classes.
Students unable to attend the Planning Event can contact College of the Redwoods Adult Education at 798-6200, show up to the Equivalency class, or email one of our Navigators at Adult-ed@redwoods.edu
