The Automotive Program at College of the Redwoods has received a donation of a 2002 Ford F-150 4X4 truck from Harper Motors of Eureka. This is the first time any dealership has given the program a vehicle. The truck will be used for CR students to learn about truck and four-wheel drive repair.
“This is good for our program,” said instructor Michael Richards. “We were down to just one truck that was really old and has outlived its usefulness for instruction.”
Richards said that the program is in need of more contemporary vehicles that students can learn from, and so hopes there will be more dealerships that can donate to the program in the future. Trevor Harper of Harper Motors said that he values the technicians he has employed who graduated from CR’s program over the last 15 years.
CR’s Automotive Program has recently added a new full-time instructor, Anibal Florez, to its staff. He is in his second semester teaching at CR. The program has also recently acquired new gas direct injection GDI engine stands with advanced computerized controls for instruction, 4 hybrid vehicles, and many other equipment upgrades.
