College of the Redwoods Farm hosts sweet corn field day and tour

The College of the Redwoods Farm will host a Sweet Corn Field Day on Friday, August 25 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the CR Farm in Shively.

This event is co-sponsored by College of the Redwoods Farm and the Organic Seed Alliance. The OSA has been testing over 50 varieties of organic sweet corn at the college farm over the summer and on the 25th they will be testing the corn and evaluating the flavor. Participants will be able to sample fresh sweet corn. Tours of the farm and corn trial will happen during the event and organic farm produce will be available to purchase.

There is no cost for this event.

Directions from CR campus:

Take 101 South past Scotia.  When you see the sign for Pepperwood Avenue of the Giants exit, take this exit and go through Pepperwood and look for the small Shively sign. Turn left, go down a dirt road and across the summer bridge. Follow the gravel bar to the pavement. At the “T” in the road, turn right. This is Shively Flat Road. At the bend in the road, turn left on School Road. Look for the tall metal Deer fence gate on left and turn there. Go down this gravel driveway to the farm house and barn.
