College of the Redwoods has hired Amber Buntin as the new full-time Mathematics professor at the Del Norte campus. The decision to hire Buntin was announced at the CR Board of Trustees meeting on Dec. 8.
Buntin has been an Associate Faculty member at CR and a lecturer at HSU since 2010. She served as a CR Faculty Mentor for the Upward Bound program from 2013-2014, and was awarded CR’s Associate Faculty Member of the Year in 2012-2013. Buntin also received the HSU Outstanding Teaching Award as a graduate student in 2009.
Buntin graduated from CR with an AA degree in 2004, received her BA in Mathematics at HSU in 2007, and received a MS in Environmental Systems-Math Modeling Option from HSU in 2010.
“Having started as a CR student, and with a combination of talent and effort, Amber is now a member of our exceptional mathematics department serving the students and community of Del Norte County” said Mark Winter, CR Vice President of Instruction and Student Development. “We are delighted that she has joined the CR community in a new role as permanent faculty.”
