College of the Redwoods career programs receive high marks from Chancellor’s office

College of the Redwoods has received notice of special recognition for its career education programs with strong workforce outcomes from the Chancellor’s office. Multiple programs at CR have been named as Strong Workforce Stars because they demonstrate outcomes based on Strong Workforce Program LaunchBoard data.

Some student outcome requirements for this recognition include an increase in earnings by 50% or more, attainment of the regional living wage by 70% or more, and 90% or more students employed in a job similar to their field of study.

CR Welding Technology students saw an 83% increase in earnings. 75% of CR Electrical students attained the regional living wage. CR Mill and Cabinet Work students saw an 83% increase in earnings. 91% of CR Administration of Justice students attained the regional living wage. 90% of CR North Coast Paramedic students attained the regional living wage and 100% of Paramedic students are employed in a job similar to their field of study.

California Community Colleges Strong Workforce Stars, launched in 2017, is an annual recognition and celebration for career education programs, also known as career technical education, whose students show significant gains in factors important for advancing social mobility – a substantial increase in earnings, attainment of a living wage and a job closely matched with the field of study.
