CR Trustee receives service award

College of the Redwoods Trustee Bruce Emad received a "Fulfilling the Trust" award for 20 years of service at the Annual Trustees Conference hosted by the Community College League of California. The conference was held in Monterey, California from May 1 to 3 and was attended by over 150 trustees from throughout the state. Session topics included Accreditation, Board Evaluation, Brown Act, Ethics, Fiscal Responsibilities, Governance, and Student Success.

Bruce Emad has been a trustee at CR since 1994 and has served as board president for several of his 20 years on the board. He is a strong advocate for student success and adds a much needed financial perspective to the board. Emad has also served the local community on several other boards and advisory committees over the years, including serving as trustee and president of the board for St. Joseph's Hospital. Emad is a financial advisor employed by Morgan Stanley in Eureka.

"Affordable quality education is one of the most important benefits that any society can provide its citizens" said Emad. "I have been a very fortunate person to have played a small role towards that goal."
