College of the Redwoods Art Gallery will present Bodies of Work, an exhibition of recent drawings and paintings that focus entirely on the human form. The participating artists include local artists, CR students, and faculty at CR who work together in a collaborative environment to create figurative drawings and paintings in the mediums of graphite, charcoal, and watercolor. The work presented in this show includes both traditional and experimental media, with techniques that are often improvisational, expressionistic, and always executed entirely from life.
Long-time CR figure drawing instructor Dean Smith curated this exhibition, and much of the work included was created by participants in his yearly summer life drawing group. This is the third annual exhibition of work from this group at the CR Creative Arts Gallery. The exhibition will run from August 24 through September 17. A reception will be held Thursday, September 17 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The College of the Redwoods Art Gallery is located in the Creative Arts Complex on the Eureka Main Campus, via the North Entrance. The Gallery has not yet established hours for the 2015-16 school year. Gallery hours are scheduled based on student availability.
