College of the Redwoods hires new Vice President of Student Services

College of the Redwoods has hired Clinton Slaughter as its new Vice President of Student Services. The position will oversee the college’s student services operations, including Admissions, Counseling, and Financial Aid.

Slaughter has a Master of Public Administration degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science degree, both from California State University, Chico. He has 19 years of experience working at Butte Community College in Oroville, CA, where he served as Dean of Student Services and as the Director of Admissions and Records and Enrollment Management.

“Clinton has a strong background in student services having led enrollment management, student equity, student conduct, and Admissions and Records areas at Butte College,” said CR President Keith Flamer. “His experience is indisputable, as is his love and dedication to the California Community College system. We are grateful to him for stepping into this role. His external viewpoint, combined with the understanding of all facets of enrollment management and student equity and community college governance structures will help us tremendously as we go through inevitable changes at College of the Redwoods.”

Slaughter’s leadership roles include President and Chief Negotiator of CSEA Chapter 511, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Kirkwood Elementary School District, President of the California Association of Community College Registrars and Admissions Officers (CACCRAO), Chair of the Academic Council, Chair of the Enrollment Management Committee, and Chair of SEAPAC.

“It is an honor to be joining the team of dedicated and hardworking professionals at College of the Redwoods,” said Slaughter. “One of my first priorities will be getting to know the personnel, learning about campus operations, and beginning to establish a foundation of mutual trust and support. I bring with me my passion for student access, equity, retention, and success.”
