CR Del Norte science lab groundbreaking celebration

The College of the Redwoods Del Norte Education Center will hold a groundbreaking celebration for the construction of a new science lab at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, at their campus on 883 W. Washington Blvd. in Crescent City.  The public is welcome to attend.

The CR Board of Trustees approved the recommendation to award the construction bid for the new science lab project to Cal Electro, Inc. of Redding, CA at their Feb. 24 meeting.

The construction project is designed to provide state-of-the-art wet and dry lab learning spaces and enhances the center’s learning environment.  The construction project will include teaching laboratories for Biology, Chemistry, Nursing, Anatomy and Physiology as well as a dry lab to support the Geology curriculum.  Additionally, the project will provide improved and upgraded ADA pathways, a new emergency backup generator and improved fire lanes.

"The Science Lab project is a fabulous addition to our Del Norte Center and will provide more opportunities in education for our students, faculty and the community," says Dr. Keith Snow-Flamer, Interim President of CR. Board of Trustees President, Tom Ross adds "With the new facility, the Board of Trustees is continuing their support of the Crescent City community and greatly appreciates the staff’s hard work on this project.”
