Update Following the January 19, 2019 Board of Trustees Workshop

Published on 1/19/2019.

The Board had a very robust, honest, and constructive workshop today. Here's a summary of the conversation.

Board Self-Evaluation Review. The Trustees discussed the results of the 2018 Board of Trustees Self-Evaluation and the efficacy of the questions included in the self-evaluation. The Trustees felt that is important for the Board's Self-Evaluation Committee to assess the survey instrument with an eye toward continually satisfying accreditation standards and ensuring that the Board is meeting its established goals.

Vision for the District. The Trustees understand that one of their key roles is providing a long-term vision for the District. President Emad asked me to work with Trustees Biggin, Dorn, and Kelley to draft an initial Vision Statement for Board review.

Board Representation on Redwood Region Economic Development Commission (RREDC). Recognizing the importance of maintaining strong relationships with our local community, the Board agreed to have a Trustee serve on the RREDC board. President Emad directed me to bring a revised AP 2220 Committees of the Board to the February Board meeting for approval that reflects the Trustee’s thoughts.

Board Advocacy. Trustee involvement is a key component to successful advocacy on behalf of the District.  To that end, the Board agreed to establish a protocol that will guide Trustee communication with local and state politicians.
