We lost a retired faculty member, Dr. Miles Mackey, on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, California due to complications of Pulmonary Hypertension at the age of 81.

Dr. Mackey received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemistry from San Jose State University.  Upon graduation in 1961 he worked for United Technologies as an Analytical Chemist in the Titan III rocket program until 1964 and spent a brief time teaching at San Jose State. During his 38 years at College of the Redwoods, Dr. Mackey earned his PhD at Arizona State University and severed as a Chair of the Science Division, Student Advisor, and Chair of the Accreditation Committee.

Services will be held on Tuesday, April 23 at 11am at the Methodist Church, 922 N Street, Fortuna, California. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, Sacramento California or the American Cancer Society.
