The long awaited sale of the our Garberville site to the Southern Humboldt Community Healthcare District (SHCHD) for $1.1 million has been finalized. Matt Rees, CEO of SHCHD and I signed the closing documents late last week. A press release announcing the sale will be disseminated to local media outlets as soon as possible.

I want to thank our gardeners and construction staff for taking care of the site over the many years. Thank you to Prudence Ratliff for working so hard to offer community education classes at the site over the past few years.  Special thanks go to our Board of Trustees for their fiduciary leadership and for their commitment to the community of Southern Humboldt. 

The proceeds from the sale will be used for ongoing capital and facilities related improvements in the District. We will continue to offer classes in Southern Humboldt.
