The Native American Basket Restoration Project Continues

Published on 3/24/2016.

Professor Cindy Hooper is making tremendous progress on her sabbatical project to get CR's Native American Basket collection reinstalled for public display, as well as complete additional cataloging, conservation, and storage of the entire collection.  Over the next few days Cindy will work with Angela McGrew, a professional conservator from Stanford, and Brittany Britton to clean away mold, dust and debris from the baskets.

Thanks to the outstanding work and determination of Professor Hooper and money from our Student Equity Plan funds, this valuable cultural resource will soon be available for our students, staff and community.

Angela McGrew has worked for the National Museum of the American Indian Smithsonian for 8 years, The Southwest Museum of the American Indian at the Autry for 8.5 years, and currently at the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University for 3 years.  She is Apache.

Brittany Britton holds a BA in Studio Art at HSU, a MFA from the Oregon College of Art and Craft, and has worked as an intern at the Clark Museum.  She is Hupa.
