After extraordinary work by our Human Resources department and screening committees we have the opportunity to welcome several remarkable new faculty to our already impressive cadre of faculty next year. I want to take a moment to provide a brief background on these impressive scholars.

Robert Landry will be joining us an Agriculture teacher. Robert comes to us via Butte College and Santa Rosa Junior College where he taught agriculture science, agricultural business courses, and coordinated the Sustainable Agriculture Program. He earned a Master of Science in Horticulture and Agronomy from the University of California, Davis and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas State University, San Marcos.

Theresa McBride will join our faculty ranks as a Business teacher for our Del Norte/Pelican Bay Education Program. Theresa taught a variety of Business-related classes at Lake Superior State University and Hawaii Pacific University. She received her doctorate from the University of St. Andrews, a Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University, and the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore.

Trevor Hartman will become our newest Computer Information Systems Instructor. Trevor comes to us with a mix of education and real world experience. He received a Bachelor of Science from California State University, Chico and served as a Director of Technology and Development, Operations and Mobile Engineer, and a Database/System Administrator.

Karyn-Lynn Fisette will serve as an English instructor for our Del Norte and Pelican Bay Education Program. Karyn-Lynn was an English instructor at Portland State University’s higher education prison program. She earned a Master in Fine Arts and a Bachelors Degree in English from Portland State University and an Associate of Arts degree from the Community College of Rhode Island.

Kendra Guimaraes will be a fulltime instructor in our English and Adult Education programs. Kendra took her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Florida International University and the Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish Literature from the University of California, Davis.

Madeleine Lopez will be the newest member of our Forestry & Natural Resources faculty. She comes to CR by way of Cal Poly Humboldt where she taught Introduction to Wildland Fire and served as a Biology department laboratory crew leader and a field crew leader in Natural Resources. She received a Bachelors Degree in Biology and a Master of Science in Natural Resources from Cal Poly Humboldt in 2022.

Our new Librarian will be Susan Gehr. She has a Master of Library and Informational Science from San Jose State University, a Master’s of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Oregon and the Bachelors of Arts in Women’s Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Cintra Agee will be the founding faculty member our new Native American Students Program. Cintra received her Ph.D. from Yale University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, a Master of Philosophy from Yale with a concentration in Indigenous Studies and a Master of Environmental Management also from Yale.

Jason White will serve as a Kinesiology teacher and the new Corsairs head football coach. He served as a teacher and coach with Eureka and St. Bernard’s high schools and an assistant head football coach at Cal Poly Humboldt. Jason received a Masters of Science in Kinesiology, Teaching & Coaching Emphasis and a Bachelors of Arts in Physical Education from Cal Poly Humboldt.

Nathalie Dierkx, a new faculty for the Del Norte/Pelican Bay Education Center, will focus on Social Work & Human Services. She has a Master of Social Welfare and Master of Public Policy from the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts, Political Science from UCLA.

Kyle Shamp, our new Welding Technology faculty, comes to us from Eureka High School and Fresno City College. Kyle received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education from California State University, Fresno, a Masters in Agriculture Education from Cal State University, Chico, and is a Certified Welding Inspector.

I believe that these new faculty members will bring their own vitality to CR. I know that they look forward to becoming part of our community and working with our students.  I am extremely delighted to welcome them to College of the Redwoods.
