Debt Forgiveness

About the Program

CR students with COVID-19 related outstanding debt from the Spring 2020 and Summer 2020 semesters could be eligible for the debt forgiveness program.

We understand that the last year was tough, both financially and personally. We’re trying to make it as easy as possible to come back to CR, so we’re offering a Debt Relief Program for students who have outstanding debts to CR that prohibit them from registering for classes.

Do I Qualify?

Students can qualify for debt forgiveness if they have debt of $100 or more for the 2020 Spring and/or 2020 Summer term and are unable to pay the outstanding balance for reasons related to COVID-19.

We are hoping that this debt forgiveness program will allow students to continue their educational journey with us, however, you are not required to re-enroll to qualify.

This program is subject to availability and students are responsible for all future debt obligations.

Although you are not required to re-enroll at CR, we encourage all students to continue on their educational path and invite you to speak to a Financial Aid Specialist for help completing your FAFSA.

Debt Forgiveness Interest Form

College of the Redwoods (“CR”) is offering a Debt Forgiveness Program to eligible CR students. CR encourages all students to continue their educational endeavors. To enable you to reenroll CR will waive your account balance. However, students participating in the Debt Forgiveness Program are not required to reenroll. To be eligible, students must have attended CR during the 2020 Spring and/or the 2020 Summer term(s) and have a balance due on their student account.
