College of the Redwoods-Student Worker 1- Creative Arts

Wage: $12.00/Hour

Position 1: Art Model

Model for figure drawing classes, following established policies, procedures and methods. All ages and body types welcome, no previous experience required distinguishing

Characteristics: Perform routine functions of an art model.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Punctuality, dependability, friendliness and willingness to learn. Some physical endurance is required to be able to hold still during poses. Ability to work under the direct supervision of an Art Faculty member is required. Ability to work with students, staff, and faculty. Keep regularly scheduled hours. Work times are scheduled during class times only.

Knowledge and Skills: Must be comfortable posing as a nude model in a professional classroom setting. Some training is required  for this position.

 

Position 2: Ceramics/3D Assistant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Clay and Glaze mixing, kiln loading and unloading, general studio cleanup, sculpture  cabinet  and tool organization.  Punctuality, dependability, and a friendly, helpful disposition is essential.

Knowledge and skills: An interest in ceramic and sculpture processes, a willingness and ability to perform manual labor tasks, and an ability to work both independently and under the direct supervision of art staff and faculty is required

Abilities: Students must have a financial aid award letter for federal work-study. Should be comfortable performing several tasks simultaneously. Art background and clerical skills are helpful.

Education and Experience: Prefer CR Art Major, Enrollment at College of the Redwoods is required. Some training is required  for  this position.

 

Position 3: Gallery Assistant

The applicant will work under the supervision of Art Department faculty and the Gallery ISSl, and complete tasks that include (but not limited to) assisting with exhibition installation, gallery sitting, and light clerical work. The applicant should be reliable, punctual, have a professional demeanor with students and community members, and be sensitive to the specific requirements of handling and protection of original fine art. Art majors or those interested in the Fine Arts are preferred. No experience is required, but some training is necessary

Position 4: Jewelry and Metalsmithing Assistant

Works with Art 60 faculty to assist with laboratory activities and student questions. Assists students enrolled in the class during open lab times. Maintains equipment and keeps materials stocked for students.

Abilities: Students must have a financial aid award letter for federal work-study. Should be comfortable performing several tasks simultaneously. Art background and clerical skills are helpful.
