Residence Halls

Residence Hall Facilities

As one of only 11 community colleges in California to offer the residence hall option to its students, the College of the Redwoods is pleased to be able to give its residents the ease and convenience of on-campus living in a scenic, serene setting. The 150 students who choose the halls each year occupy Del Norte and Mendocino Halls that are located right on the edge of a magnificent redwood forest on the northeast corner of the campus. Mendocino Hall has rooms with doors opening to the outside, while Del Norte's room doors lead to an enclosed hallway. The rooms inside Mendocino and Del Norte are the same inside. The study hall is located on the second floor of Del Norte Hall.

Student Rooms

Double occupancy rooms are connected to one other neighboring room by a private bathroom. Rooms are furnished with a bed, a dresser, a desk, a vanity sink and mirror unit, and a large closet. Rooms are provided with basic cable TV service (boxes available for check out in the Housing Office) and internet access via WiFi. And, while we are working diligently to upgrade our facilities and wiring to be able to handle the amazing increase in student requests to have more electronic equipment and phones available to them, we may not be able to meet all students' needs. Please be sure to inquire if you have concerns in this area.

Shared (Common) Areas

The residence halls have study areas as well as lounges and other spaces that are suitable for indoor recreation. There are pool and ping pong tables, foosball, and a big screen TV with cable. Sunday through Thursday evenings, residents are welcome to use the Field House basketball court, as well as the campus weight room. The weight room is open for resident use only 7:30pm-8:30pm and the Field House is open from 8:30pm-9:30pm Sunday-Thursday while classes are in session.

For our students' convenience there are laundry facilities located in each building and food and beverage vending machines in the Del Norte Lounge. Outside, there are large lawns for recreation and plenty of access to the trails that wander through the surrounding forest. Also, within a few minutes' drive there's the Bayshore Mall, many gorgeous beaches, the cities of Eureka, Fortuna, and Arcata and the Victorian village of Ferndale. And--about 35 minutes south of the campus--you'll find the famous redwood grove known as the "Avenue of the Giants".

Laundry Facilities

Both Del Norte and Mendocino Halls have quarter operated laundry facilities located on the 1st floor. Laundry facilities are available for residents from 10:00am-10:00pm everyday while classes are in session. The Housing Office has a quarter machine available to make change for residents.
