Free for Students - Office 365 Education
Office 365 Education is available for free to students who are currently attending CR. The service includes Office Online (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote), 1TB of OneDrive storage, Yammer, and SharePoint sites. See:
Online Student Handbook
If you are taking an online course (or are thinking about it) you should review The Online Student Handbook. It contains important online class information, checklists and other resources to help you to be a successful online student. It is recommended reading for both beginners and online veterans.
Student Complaint Process
If you have a complaint or concern about your grade in a class, you should begin by taking it to your instructor as described in college Administrative Procedure 4231, Grade Changes. If you believe you have been subject to unlawful discrimination, you should follow procedures outlined in Administrative Procedure 3435, Procedures for Complaints of Unlawful Discrimination.
Students wishing to lodge any other complaint regarding a class or instructor may do so in a process that is explicitly described in the College Catalog and in District Administrative Procedure 5530, Student Complaints Other than Academic Complaints or Unlawful Discrimination. The full text of AP 5530 is available on the CR website Board Policies Chapter 5.
To file a complaint, please send an email to CR-Online@redwoods.edu and write "Student Complaint" in the subject line. Be sure to include the following: Your name, phone number (if you want a call back), the name of the class, and a brief description of the issue or problem you're having. An instructional dean will personally contact you to discuss the issue.
Lookup Your Student ID or Canvas Username
Your Web-Advisor and Canvas user names are the same, but the default passwords for the two systems are different (your birthday, in MMDDYY format for Web-Advisor and MMDDYYYY for Canvas). To look up your ID see What's my User ID.
You should change your password as soon as you login. Make them the same and it will be easier to remember
All students receive a college email account administered by Google Services. All communications including academic deadlines, financial aid information, application status, Canvas notifications, and Password reset responses will be sent to your student email. Please login and check your mail often or forward it to the address that you use most often. See Student Email at CR.
Canvas is a Web-based service that requires a Web browser, a stable Internet connection and possibly some browser plug-ins. See Canvas System Requirements and Browser Requirements.
Canvas also has apps for your mobile devices, both iOS and Android. Search for " Canvas by Instructure". For more information, go to Mobile Guides.
How do I get technical support?
CR technical support can help you with issues regarding your password for Canvas, Web-Advisor and your mycr.redwoods.edu email. They can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling either (707)476-4160 or 800-641-0400, ext. 4160, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. You may send emails to them any time and they will respond within one business day.
Some classes require one or more proctored exams during the term. Taking a proctored exam means formally identifying yourself and taking an exam under the supervision of a proctor, either at an authorized testing center or online. Check your course syllabus for exam requirements and proctoring forms.
