The Board of Trustees met for its annual pre-fall semester workshop this weekend.

Our professional development work continued over the summer with the recent offering of StrengthsQuest activity to classified, management, and administrators. 

I am working with Renee Saucedo, our new Director of Student Equity and Success, to form a President’s Advisory Committee on Diversity comprised of representatives from several  underrepresented groups in our region.  

The Board of Trustees and the leadership of our constituent groups were informed that the Board of Governors unanimously approved the Petition for Transfer of Inhabited Territory effective July 1, 2017 at their meeting on July 18, 2016.

We in the California Community College system know that closing the achievement gap of student equity groups is not easy.  But the achievement gap is lower at College of the Redwoods than at the majority of neighboring and like-size colleges for Math, and is just above the 80 percent index threshold for English.

Many of us find ourselves right now doing a lot of thinking about the recent tragic events in Minnesota, Louisiana, and Dallas.
