President/Superintendent Search
The Redwoods Community College District has officially launched a nationwide search for its next President/Superintendent, the chief executive officer and educational leader of College of the Redwoods. The process is guided by input from students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners and reflects the priorities and values of the District.
The President/Superintendent is the chief executive officer of the Redwoods Community College District and oversees the College of the Redwoods administration. Dr. Keith Flamer is the 7th President of CR, joining a diverse group of leaders.

I want to welcome you to College of the Redwoods (CR).
CR is an exceptional learning environment in which students gain the knowledge and skills they need to be successful. We are committed to providing students an opportunity to achieve their educational goals by offering programs and services designed for students who plan to seek a transfer degree, train for immediate employment or transition to a new career.
I believe that, as a learning community, we strive to deliver quality education while ensuring that our students remain our top priority. We offer an environment that allows students to feel challenged, supported and determined—an environment in which every student can thrive and succeed.
As CR President, I appreciate this opportunity and am excited to work with wonderful faculty, staff and students to make a positive change while continuing to make our college successful.

President's Goals: August 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026
- Continue leading institutional efforts to meet or exceed all ACCJC accreditation standards and eligibility requirements.
- Continue providing regular updates to the Board related to District accreditation efforts and outcomes.
- Continue working toward making sure that the District has a budget fund reserve that ensures that the District has sufficient revenue for the operation and maintenance of its facilities.
- Continue pursuing grant funding that will benefit the District.
- Continue ensuring that the District has the appropriate number of qualified faculty, administrators, and staff to achieve its institutional mission and purpose.
- Continue filling key interim roles with permanent staff.
- Continue setting and regularly monitoring enrollment targets aligned with institutional goals.
- Finalize contract negotiations with CRFO and CSEA.
- Continue demonstrating progress toward meeting or exceeding the District’s Vision for Success Goals and Institutional Effectiveness Scorecard targets.
- Continue developing programs and initiatives that support student success and enrollment growth.
- Continue keeping the Board informed about initiatives, construction projects, and issues affecting the District.
- Continue supporting opportunities for Board education and training.
- Continue nurturing a positive relationship with the Trustees.
- Support the presidential transition as directed by the Board of Trustees.
- Continue supporting professional development opportunities for faculty, managers, staff, and administrators.
- Continue fostering an institutional culture that values innovation, trust, fairness, and connection with every student and employee.
- Finalize viable solution for CR baseball and softball fields.
- Begin planning for a structured evaluation of the college's strategic plan to ensure alignment with goals and identify areas of improvement.
- Continue communicating regularly with the District to foster community, recognize achievement, and increase awareness of efforts across the institution.
- Continue collaborating with Cal Poly Humboldt.
- Continue collaboration and engagement with local businesses, industries, government agencies, tribes, non-profit organizations, community-based organizations, and K-12 districts as evidence of the college’s commitment to students and the community.
- Continue communicating the interests of the District, student success, and college programs to the community.
About Dr. Flamer
Dr. Keith Flamer has a PhD degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University and more than 25 years of distinguished service advancing the mission of public community colleges. Dr. Flamer was named President/Superintendent of College of the Redwoods in 2015. As President of College of the Redwoods, President Flamer serves as the Chief Executive Officer providing leadership to a District comprised of over 400 faculty and staff members providing services to over 6,000 students.
President Flamer’s career reflects his dedicated service to helping students succeed in their educational pursuits. During his 17-year tenure at College of the Redwoods, Dr. Flamer has served in various leadership roles including Vice President of Instruction and Student Development and Vice President for Student Services. Prior to coming to College of the Redwoods, President Flamer served as Assistant Vice President for Learning and Student Support Services and Executive Dean of Enrollment and Student Development at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Illinois. President Flamer is a proud Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Active in the community, President Flamer currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Humboldt Area Foundation, Eureka Chamber of Commerce, and Open Door Community Health. He previously served as a member of the Board of the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods. He is a member of the Old Town Rotary Club of Eureka.
President Flamer has endeavored to broaden the reach of CR’s partnerships with business, government, industry, community organizations and educational institutions to coordinate joint responses and resources that work in concert to uplift and support the economic development of the community. Dr. Flamer and Cal Poly Humboldt President Dr. Tom Jackson have formed a close partnership working collaboratively on innovative ways to jointly serve the needs of students and the community.
As an educational leader, President Flamer believes that it is critical to embrace diversity and remain sensitive to the needs of all students. He supports the success of those who may be differently abled or who experience social, cultural and economic orientations and backgrounds different from those experienced by faculty and staff with whom these students interact. He firmly believes that diversity is strength—and that multiculturalism is something to be celebrated, promoted, and cherished.
