Step 2: Attend Mandatory Pre-Class Meetings
Please note: if you do not attend the Mandatory info meeting, you are unable to proceed to Step 2.
Potential students must bring all required documents to the pre-class meeting. Additional items in the process will be completed during this meeting.

Step 3: Pass required drug screening (this is scheduled by CR)
Step 4: Random lottery drawing
Step 5: Finalize payment arrangements and registration (if selected)
Step 6: Attend mandatory orientation and begin program!

Program dates/details
Classroom:
Days: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Driving:
Behind-the-wheel will be 45 hours and observation will be 45 hours, for a total of
90 hours in the truck.
Driving and observation details: Students will drive and observe every day, Monday thru Friday, either in a 7:00a-12:00p or 12:00p-5:00p time slot.m during the 4 week program. Students will select their time slot during the Mandatory Orientation.
Program Cost: $4,500 (Additional fees paid by the student to DMV, DOT Medical exam, drug screen)

Down Payment: $1,000
Monthly Payment: $599.17 for 6 months
Payments are automatically deducted on the 20th of each month.

About the program:
College of the Redwoods Truck Driver Training Program teaches background information, break-in skills, and offers behind-the-wheel training preparation for most trucking jobs. This intensive six-week course has 55 hours of lecture and 45 hours of "behind-the-wheel" instruction. Each student receives 45 additional hours of observation time in the truck.
Upon completion of the course, the student will schedule their DMV road test. If students pass the road test, they will receive their Class-A license.
Subjects include:
- Gauges and instruments
- Pre-trip inspection and safety
- Proper shifting techniques
- Brake systems and adjustments
- Paperwork
- How to seek employment
Eligibility:
To participate in the College of the Redwoods' Truck Driving Program, a student must be at least 18 years of age.
It is strongly recommended that you start working on these items as soon as possible and bring any of this documentation with you to the informational meeting:
- Current CA driver's license
- Current DMV License Record (must be printed within 1 week of pre-class meetings)
- DOT Medical Exam (see document below "Health Screeening Services")
- California Class A Learner's Permit (these are valid for 6 months)
- General Knowledge
- Air Brakes
- Combination Vehicles
