Get Firefighter Ready

The Fire Academy at College of the Redwoods is an Accredited Regional Training Program (ARTP) through California State Fire Training.  Our academy is formally approved to deliver the Fire Fighter I curriculum and related courses that meet statewide professional standards for entry-level firefighters.

  • Application Due April 25th

Attend Mandatory Orientation

  •  Upcoming Orientation - April 11, 2026 9:30am, Eureka Campus, Performing Arts Theater
  • Zoom Orientation 11:30 am available for out of town candidates, please email Rachel-warze@redwoods.edu for attendance approval and zoom link.

Obtain Medical Clearance- Must have medical clearance prior to April 25th Physical Ability Assessment.

Participate in Physical Ability Assessment

  • April 25th, 2026- 9 or 11am, sign-ups during orientation, Eureka Campus, Track

Enrollment in each academy is determined through a lottery. Names are drawn at random to establish the order of acceptance. If you are not selected for the academy you applied for, you will have the option to secure a seat in the next available academy.
