Dr. Kristin Lima appointed as New Dean of Del Norte Center and Pelican Bay Program

College of the Redwoods is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kristin Lima as its new Dean of the Del Norte Center and Pelican Bay Program. Her professional experience includes a wealth of teaching and administrative experience in elementary and secondary education. For over a decade, she served as a community college dean in both California and Oregon. Dr. Lima’s background includes extensive experience in instruction, accreditation, curriculum development, workforce partnerships, and community collaboration. Additionally, her leadership in fiscal planning, union negotiations, and strategic enrollment management has prepared her to effectively support faculty, students, and community stakeholders as a new dean.

“I am delighted to welcome Dr. Lima as our new Dean of the Del Norte Campus/Pelican Bay Program,” says CR President Dr Keith Flamer. “She brings a wealth of experience and a notable record of academic leadership. I believe that her expertise in curriculum and instruction and her extensive experience in K-12 and higher education makes her the ideal leader for building effective partnerships and fostering community engagement. I am confident that Dr. Lima’s leadership will greatly benefit the students, faculty, and staff, while advancing the vision of the Del Norte Campus.”

 

Dr. Lima comes to CR from Mt. Hood Community College, in Oregon, where she was Dean of Applied Technology, Business, and Information Systems. With a strong foundation in secondary education, she taught courses in Spanish, U.S. History, Business, Computer Applications, and Journalism before transitioning into leadership roles. 

After working as superintendent of the Regional Occupational Program in San Luis Obispo County, she went on to a develop career technical education and applied technology programs at Chabot College in Hayward, California where she played a pivotal role in developing new degrees, expanding employer collaborations, and supporting accreditation efforts. She holds a Master of International Business Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (formerly Monterey Institute of International Studies) and Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from UMass Global (formerly Brandman University) as well as K12 teaching and administrative credentials.
