The TRIO Student Support Services Program ("TRIO") at College of the Redwoods, Del Norte, welcomes all new and continuing students.

How do you qualify to be a Participant?

• Be a U.S. Citizen or a legal resident
• Have academic need

And meet one of the following criteria:

• Be a first  generation college student (neither of your parents have received a four year college degree)
• Meet thefederal guidelines as being a low-income student 
• Have a Documented Disability

How much does it cost to be in TRIO?

All services are free of charge to eligible participants. This includes all Day and Overnight trips and accommodations to tour 4-year universities.

TRIO History

TRIO has been at College of the Redwoods, Del Norte since 1986 but the origins of the program date back to President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty. TRIO Student Support Services was one of the 3 original programs established as a result of The Educational Opportunity Act of 1964. The other two original programs are Upward Bound and Talent Search. TRIO programs are dependent on federal funding and exist to support greater access to educational opportunity for under-represented populations.
