Career Mobility

The College of the Redwoods Career Mobility Program helps Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Paramedics become Registered Nurses (RNs). The program takes three semesters to complete (spring, fall, and spring).

To apply, you must have:

  • A valid California LVN license (if you are an LVN) Or national paramedic certification (if you are a paramedic)
  • It is strongly recommended that you have at least one year of work experience as an LVN or Paramedic before applying.

Applications are accepted once a year, from September 1 to September 15, for a spring semester start. The application will be released on September 1st.

Effective August 7, 2026, this nursing program is a candidate for initial accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. This candidacy status expires in Fall 2028.
